These special “half comb’ honeycombs come from placing a frame of empty honeycomb trays in a beehive; in which the bees build their comb directly to the base of the tray. Once the trays are filled, we only need to add a lid and label, without ever touching the honeycomb directly.
The “Half Comb” method allows the bees to build just one layer of cells against the embossed tray foundation. One reason people enjoy the half-comb aspect is because there is no mid layer of beeswax, which creates less wax per bite.
